How to Replace the Battery on the Palm Tungsten E2

You can replace the batter yourself on a sputtering Tungsten E2. All you'll need is a TORX T5 screwdriver, a new battery and a steady hand. Follow these steps.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement battery
  • Flathead screwdriver (small)
  • TORX T5 screwdriver
  • Glue
  1. Step 1

    Place your PDA on a flat surface with the back of the device facing up and the screws exposed.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the 4 corner screws with the TORX T5 screwdriver.

  3. Step 3

    Separate the case from the body. You might have to use a flat screwdriver to gently pry it open.

  4. Step 4

    Separate the 2 connectors from the motherboard.

  5. Step 5

    Gently pry the battery free.

  6. Step 6

    Place the new battery in position, gluing it in place to keep it steady.

  7. Step 7

    Plug the wires back into the motherboard.

  8. Step 8

    Snap the back cover in place and replace the screws.

  9. Step 9

    Push the reset button to restart your Palm.

Tips & Warnings
  • You will need a TORX T5 screw driver to get the screws out. If it doesn't come with the replacement battery, you can order it online (see Resources below).
  • Be gentle. If you break off pieces, you may need to replace the entire device, and you may also void any outstanding warranty.
