How to Determine How Much to Pay an Article Writer
It can be hard to decide just how much to pay for good content, which is so important to building and expanding your online business. Your content is what draws customers to your Web site and entertains them while they're there. It also keeps them coming back. This can be a priceless contribution to your site, so you need to determine how much to pay an article writer.

1
Determine the length and subject of the article you want on your Web site. The longer it is, the more you should pay.
-
2
Subject matter counts, too: Be prepared to pay more per word if you are asking for articles about highly technical or complicated subjects.

-
3
As a general rule, online content should cost anywhere from 1 to 5 cents per word depending on the quality and the complexity.

Ask authors if they have established fees, and decide if you are willing to pay what they ask.

Tips & Warnings
Request a maximum of 500 words for most articles, as many readers are not interested in longer pieces. If you need very long articles, ask the writer to create content in several sections to make it easier to read.
Paying a fair price will ensure higher quality work. If you're offering $1 or $2 for a 500-word article, you're not going to get well-written articles.
Do not just leave your articles as just blocks of text. Add colorful images and break up the text with subheads. Bullet points and lists are a good way of adding space to the page to make the text easier to read.

You've got to be kidding! 1 to 5 cents per word! No serious writer is going to write for that paltry sum! Try at least 10 to 20 cents per word for a pro, and that's IF they're feeling generous or the workload has slowed down. Many of the best writers won't even get out of bed for less than $1 a word. But go ahead and pay 1 to 5 cents per word if you like ripping off hard working writers or you want to pay for gibberish. It's up to you.
