Photographs can be lost due to improper care and environmental damage causing them to become faded, scratched or torn. Restoring, preserving and digitizing old photographs can save them for future generations.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Old photograph you want to restore
  • Computer with scanner
  • Image editing software
  • Laser printer using photo paper

Step1
Place the old photograph into the scanner, and scan it into your computer.
Step2
Use your selected image software to edit scratches, dirt, or correct color fading.
Step3
Save a digital copy of the edited photo onto your computer.
Step4
Print a new copy of the restored photograph on a laser printer using photo paper.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't be afraid to experiment with your image editing software, you can always start over if you don't like the outcome.
