Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Credit card (for online purchase)
- Interet access for researching
Step1
Determine your needs in a printer. What are you going to do with your printer? Do you want to print photos or will you only be printing black and white documents? How much do you want to spend? Do you want a printer that is economical or stingy with ink?
Step2
Start looking around online. Check product review sites from Web sites such as PC Magazine and CNET (see Resources below). These sites will give you detailed descriptions of the inkjet printers, approximate prices and technical data. They will also have reliability reports and other important information.
Step3
Check around the big box retailers’ Web sites such as Staples, Circuit City and Best Buy, for price comparison. Look at other retailers as well, like Amazon. Many of these retailers’ Web sites will have reviews of the inkjet printers and other products that are posted by consumers.
Step4
Once you have a good idea of which printer you want to buy, start deciding where you want to buy it. If you need it right away, you can order it online from most of the big box retailers and pick it up at the store. These systems will allow you to check the availability of a particular printer from the comfort of your own home.
Step5
Depending on where you order your inkjet printer online, you may be able to qualify for free shipping. Many of the large retailers will offer free shipping on items under a certain size or over a certain price.
