How to Experiment in the Wikipedia Sandbox

In the Wikipedia Sandbox, you can carry out experiments on how to edit pages in Wikipedia. The Sandbox is a great place to familiarize yourself with how things work on Wikipedia and how they will look when you publish an article.

Things You’ll Need:

• A Wikipedia account

1. Go to the Wikipedia Sandbox by searching for “Wikipedia Sandbox” in the search box.
2. Click on “Edit this page” at the top of the page.
3. Experiment with the Wikipedia format to find out how things work.
4. Click the “Save Page” button when you are finished.
5. Check out the changes you made to the page.

Tips & Warnings

• There are templates available listed on the Sandbox page for you to experiment with as well.
• There are a few Sandboxes on Wikipedia for you to experiment with--try them all out.
• Content on the Sandbox page doesn't stay permanently--the page is automatically cleaned every hour.
• Don’t put copyrighted, offensive or libelous content on the Sandbox pages.
