Mystical and ancient, crystal healing is an old practice that's still used today. Many people find it beneficial for treating chronic pain, addiction, depression, diabetes and vision problems. Crystals, which act as natural conductors and transmitters of energy, are placed upon the body, in bath or drinking water, or used in bodywork like massage to elicit healing responses from deep within. Used in correlation with "chakras," recipients often notice a more balanced result. Follow these steps to learn how to use "chakras" with crystal healing.

Things You'll Need:

  • Guide to locate the seven chakras
  • Crystals in complimentary colors

Get to Know the Seven Chakras

  1. Step 1

Begin at the base "chakra" known as "Muladhara," which is represented by the color red. Tigers Eye and Black Obsidian are the best stones for stimulation pertaining to the physical body and past impressions.

  2. Step 2

Head slightly above that to find the second "chakra" called "Swadhistana." This "chakra" benefits from orange stones like the Carnelian, which work on vitality, sex drive and emotional range.

  3. Step 3

Moving further up, you'll find the third "chakra" called "Manipura." which is located in the torso. Its color is yellow like the Aventurine stone. Work here includes willpower, perseverance and emotions.

  4. Step 4

Locate your heart center and you find the "Anahata" "chakra." It governs surrender, balance, acceptance and faith. Its colors are green and pink like the Rose Quartz.

  5. Step 5

Swallow and you'll happen upon the next "chakra," located at your throat. "Vishuddhi," the fifth "chakra," governs communication and expression. Try Blue Lace Agate to stimulate healing here.

  6. Step 6

Blink your third eye. Actually, you can't; but if you could, it would be centrally located between your eyes at the top of the nose. This is where the mind rests along with inner vision, intuition and comprehension. Dark blue or indigo crystals like Dumortiertite activate this sixth "chakra," named "Ajna."

  7. Step 7

Reach the highest ground at the seventh and final "chakra" known as "Sahasrara." It manifests at the crown of the head representing spiritual intelligence, divinity and enlightenment. Use white or violet crystals like Amethyst to enhance this "chakra."

  8. Use Chakras With Crystal Healing

  9. Step 1

Discover more about the use of "chakras" with crystal healing by visiting the "Kacha Stones" Web site (see Resources below).

  10. Step 2

Know that there is some debate about the exact colors represented by each "chakra." Experiment to see what works best for you.

  11. Step 3

Align the corresponding crystals with the "chakras" in your body. Lie down in a quiet place so you can concentrate.

  12. Step 4

Consider one of two options: you can press gently into each stone, one at a time, until you feel the desired effects; or, you can simply remain still until you feel the work is complete.

  13. Step 5

Flick your fingers as you move between the various crystals when pressing. This ensures that your fingers are not carrying contaminated energy from the previous "chakra."

Tips & Warnings
  • Crystals are the only thing you'll pay for if you conduct your own crystal healing according to the "chakra" principles. Otherwise, it can be moderately expensive to see an experienced crystal healer.
  • As a part of the subtle body, "chakras" can be hard to locate. You have to feel your way around.
  • Never treat severe symptoms with crystal healing. If you are bleeding, experiencing seizures or blackouts, consult immediate medical assistance.
  • Before you start any alternative medical technique, be aware that many have not been scientifically evaluated. Often, only limited information is available about their safety and effectiveness. Each state and each discipline has its own rules about how alternative medicine practitioners can be professionally licensed. If you decide to visit one, choose one licensed by a recognized national organization. Consult your primary health care provider about your decision first. Keep your doctor informed about the alternative medical technique you undertake.
  • Crystal healing is not a proven science and results do vary.
