How to Ban an Artist From One of Your Stations on Pandora.com

Pandora suggests songs that are musically similar to an artist or song title you've chosen to create a station. To narrow a station's definition so that it is closer to what you want, you can eliminate or ban a particular artist from any or all of your stations with a couple of clicks of your mouse.

How to Ban an Artist From One of Your Stations on Pandora.com

1. Go to the Pandora.com Web site (see Resources below) and log in.
2. Click on a station you've created. As Pandora.com plays music, run the mouse over the icon of a song that you don't like and give it a 'Thumbs Down' vote. Two 'Thumbs Down' votes automatically bans that artist from that station.

3. Find the station on the Pandora Tuner and click the triangle next to it.
4. Select 'Edit This Station.'
5. View the list of 'Artist Seeds' on your station page. Find one of the artists you want to remove, check the box next to it and click 'Remove Checked.' You may also delete 'Song Seeds,' 'Thumbs Up' and 'Thumbs Down' votes the same way. You must edit one section at a time. Once you remove a 'Thumbs Down' vote, these songs will be put back into the rotation of songs Pandora suggests for your station.

Tips & Warnings

• Suspend a song without banning the artist by clicking 'Guide Us' as a song plays and select the 'Zzz' button. The song will be suspended from your station for 30 days.
• Ban songs--but not the artist--by clicking the triangle next to the station name on the Pandora Tuner and select 'Add More Music To This Station.' Type in the artist's name. The artist is now part of the station's definition and will not be affected by 'Thumbs Down' votes.
• If you are unable to ban an artist from your station, you have either given that artist 2 'Thumbs Up' votes, or that artist is part of your station definition. To change a 'Thumbs Up' vote or station definition, you will need to edit the station.
• Be aware that if you give an artist 2 'Thumbs Down' votes, you will ban the artist from your station. Learn more about changing 'Thumbs Up' and 'Thumbs Down' votes by visiting the FAQ page on Pandora.com (see Resources below).
