How to Add Music to Your Xanga

Enriching your blog with audio files allows you to share more of your individual personality with your friends in the online community. Xanga has made it possible to easily upload music to your weblog so that you can share even more with your fellow Xangans.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet connection
  • Xanga username and password
  • Audio file

    Visit the Xanga Homepage

  1. Step 1

    Log on to your Xanga account through the Xanga homepage (see Resources below). You'll need to enter your username and password and click the 'Sign In' button.

  2. Step 2

    Select the 'Upload Audio' tab to access the audioblog portion of your site.

  3. Step 3

    Browse for the music file you wish to upload to Xanga by clicking the 'Browse' button.

  4. Step 4

    Find the audio file you wish to upload. Music can be stored with different file extensions, the most common being a WAV file.

  5. Prepare Your Music File

  6. Step 1

    Start Step 2 of the upload process by assigning a title to your music upload. Type in this information in the 'Title' field.

  7. Step 2

    Enter a caption to describe the music you are uploading in the 'Caption' field if you choose. You can also enter descriptive words into the 'Tags' field to make it easier for others to search for your music on Xanga.

  8. Step 3

    Change the status of your music file from public to private by selecting the corresponding radio button. You may also assign an age rating to the music file you are uploading by selecting from the 'Rating' drop-down box.

  9. Step 4

    Choose to include this audio file in your 'Audioblog' by selecting the corresponding checkbox.

  10. Step 5

    Allow others to add comments to your music by selecting the 'Comments' checkbox.

  11. Share Music Online Through Your Xanga Account

  12. Step 1

    Hit the 'Upload' button to add music to your weblog. You will see a progress bar indicating how much of your audio file has uploaded and the projected amount of time remaining to complete the upload.

  13. Step 2

    Know that your music file has successfully uploaded when the Xanga Audio Manager reads 'Your upload was successful!'

Tips & Warnings
  • If you upload music or audio files to your Xanga account, make sure that you are familiar with the rules and regulations governing copyrighted material and that you have reviewed Xanga's Terms of Use.
  • You must own all rights to any audio file you upload to Xanga.
