Among Trails.com's many useful search features is the site's built-in ability to allow users to browse trails by U.S. state. If you're heading to a new corner of the country on a getaway or just looking for new ideas for outdoor adventures in your home state, Trails.com can show you the way.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Membership to Trails.com (recommended)
  • Computer with Internet access
  • Credit card (if purchasing a membership)

Locate Nature Trails by U.S. State on Trails.com

Step1
Head to the Trails.com homepage (see Resources below) to begin.
Step2
Provide your login information (the email address you used to join the site, along with your private password) in the corresponding fields beneath the 'Member Login' heading, or click on the 'Log In' link.
Step3
Click on the 'Trail Finder' link, located on the Trails.com homepage (see Resources below). This will take you to the 'Trail Descriptions & Trail Maps' page, on which a large map of the United States is displayed.
Step4
Choose the state in which you wish to browse for trails by clicking on its link on the U.S. map.
Step5
Click on the 'United States Trails' link from the 'Select a State on the Map or a Link Below' heading as a substitute for Step 4.
Step6
Access trails by zipcode by scrolling to the 'Search For Trails By Zip Code' heading on the 'Trail Descriptions & Trail Maps' page you accessed in Step 3. Enter the 'Zip Code' you want to search and select a distance range from the 'Within [however many] Miles' drop-down menu.
Step7
Select a state from the 'USA Trails' list on the 'Trail Descriptions & Trail Maps' page. You can browse trails in every U.S. state using this list.

Tips & Warnings
