Trails.com offers links to listings of thousands of running trails located all across North America, Mexico and the Caribbean. No matter what you may be running from (or if you just run for the simple fun of it), you'll find a wide array of trails close to where you are, or wherever you're running to.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with an Internet connection
  • Trails.com trial or paid membership (recommended)
  • Credit Card (if purchasing a membership)

Locate Running Trails

Step1
Begin by opening the Trails.com homepage (see Resources below) in your Web browser.
Step2
Enter your email address and password in the indicated fields if you have a Trails.com membership.
Step3
Sign up for free by clicking on the 'Start A Free Account' link if you want privileged access to Trails.com. You will be taken to a page that offers a free 14-day trial membership. You'll need a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card to complete your trial membership application. Follow the simple instructions on the registration page, to which you'll be redirected.
Step4
Click on the 'Trail Finder' tab when you're ready to search for running trails.
Step5
Search the United States for running trails by clicking on the map in the desired state. If you want to search elsewhere in North America, look for running trails in National or State Parks, or are wondering about popular trails, select a link from the accompanying menu.
Step6
Scan your results for the running trails link by seeking out the 'Hiking Activities' heading on the results page. Underneath it, you will find a bulleted list of links. Click your region's 'Trail Running' link. If no 'Trail Running' link is present, Trails.com does not have any running trails listed in your selected region.
Step7
Click on the 'Trail Running' link to be taken to a page allowing you to narrow or expand your search results.
Step8
Browse the list of running trails you'll be taken to once you've filtered your criteria.
Step9
Find a trail you want to run, put your running shoes on and go for a jog!

Tips & Warnings

  • Gain access to additional search features by signing up for a complimentary 14-day trial membership.
  • Seek out the Trails.com 'Help' link (or see Resources below) if you get lost.
  • Set up a new account with a free email provider solely for the purposes of registering for Web sites. This will help keep your primary email address safe from spam.
  • Exercise caution with your account information. Clear your Web browser's history and cache at once whenever you transact using a credit card number. Log out of your Trails.com account when you finish to keep your account secure.
