Descriptive keywords called 'tags' can be attached to files, Web pages, digital images and Internet bookmarks to facilitate categorical classification of Web content and make searching easier. Technorati allows users to tag blogs and other Web content and features tag-specific search capabilities in its 'Advanced Search' option. Here's how to search in tags on Technorati:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access

    Search Tags Using Technorati

  1. Step 1

Open your Web browser and head to the Technorati homepage to get started (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Log in to your Technorati account if you have one. It's free to join if you don't. All you need is a valid email address.

  3. Step 3

Click on the 'Advanced Search' link. This link can be found near the main basic 'Search For' field on the Technorati homepage.

  4. Step 4

Scroll down until you find the advanced search menu's 'Tag Search' section.

  5. Step 5

Type the tag word you wish to search in the "Find Posts Tagged" field.

  6. Step 6

Join multiple search terms or phrases using the operator word OR (in capital letters) as a connector. For example, if you're looking for tags about dogs or cats, simply type "dogs OR cats" into the search field. If you're looking for tags about dogs and cats, don't include the "OR" connector and simply type "dogs cats."

  7. Step 7

Click the "Search" button beneath the "Find Posts Tagged" field. You will be redirected to a new screen, where your search results will be displayed.

  8. Step 8

Browse the blog results returned by your search for tags. They will appear in a distinct section on the results page, headed by a number indicating the amount of blogs your tag search found.

  9. Step 9

Look at pictures or watch videos relating to your search for tags by perusing the "Visual Media" results your search uncovered. These will be displayed in their own section on the results page.

  10. Step 10

Check out Technorati's 'Help' page if you get stuck during your search for tags (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider signing up for a Technorati account if you don't already have one. Though a valid account isn't required to search tags, only signed-in members have the ability to actually attach Technorati tags to Web content.
  • Protect your Technorati account by always remembering to log out when you finish your Technorati session. This is a particularly important step if you're working from a shared computer.
