How to Share Videos On Photobucket

Photobucket has a great system for not only storing videos, but also for sharing them with others. The process is a bit more involved than sharing photos because of stringent guidelines for the types of files allowed on the Web site and the slow downloads of larger files, but it's still relatively straightforward. Soon, Photobucket users will also have the ability to re-mix videos on the site.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Video files formatted to Photobucket's standards
  • Valid login information

    Upload a Video

  1. Step 1

    Begin at the Photobucket home page (see Resources below) and head to the "Member Login" area. Enter your username and password in the fields provided. Click "Log in" and your account page appears.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the "Video" link. It is located in the "Upload Images and Videos" section.

  3. Step 3

    Choose the location where your video file is located by browsing your computer's files. Select the "Browse" button and a drop-down box appears with all of the various options. Double-click your file when it appears.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the "Uploading Options" link to view the available choices. Once you decide, simply click the 'Upload' button. "Video Uploaded" appears once the process is completed.

  5. Step 5

    Share them! You are now ready to pass them along to friends and family or post them to your profile on Photobucket.

    Return to the main page of your account. From here, click the link for "Video" under the "Upload Images and Videos" section.

  8. Step 2

    Scroll the page. You will see your videos listed.

  9. Step 3

    Click on the thumbnail video image. The video begins to play. Press the "Share" button.

  10. Step 4

    Choose the way you want to share your video. Three icons pop up: "Email," "Link" and "Resume."

  11. Step 5

    Email it or link it. Appropriate text boxes appear after you make your selection. Clicking "Resume" will just activate the paused video in progress.

  12. Step 6

    Finalize the process. Either press the 'Send' button for email or press the "Copy to Clipboard" button for linking the video. You're all finished!

Tips & Warnings
  • Free accounts are limited to 5 minutes of play length, while Pro Account holders (who pay for the service) are limited to 10 minutes.
  • The "Describe It" field will let you add a title or tag to your video. It appears during file upload.
  • Check out the "Help" link on the homepage if you have trouble. Under the "Tutorials" link, Photobucket has convenient step-by-step instruction (see Resources below).
  • You can search Photobucket's library of videos by clicking the "Find Stuff' button on the navigation bar of the homepage.
  • Pay special attention when naming video files. Photobucket does not allow video files that contain spaces or special characters.
  • See the Photobucket "Help" button on the homepage for assistance with videos. Certain video file types are not acceptable.
  • To ensure that your video content is not viewable to the public, visit the homepage and click "Terms of Service" on the navigation bar for information about Photobucket's privacy policies.
