How to Upload A Large Number Of Photos At Once On Flickr

Flickr offers a convenient way to upload lots of photos at once. You can select multiple photos to upload all at the same time, and that can save you extra effort to focus on tags, joining groups and all the other features of Flickr. It's an easy way to upload your photos quickly!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Digital camera

    Sign Up for Flickr

  1. Step 1

    Navigate to Flickr's home page and click the "Sign Up!" button (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Type your Yahoo! ID and password into the fields indicated.

  3. Step 3

    Click on "Sign In" to enter your Flickr account and begin uploading a large number of photos all at once.

  4. Upload Your Photos All At Once

  5. Step 1

    Click on the "Upload Photos" link on your main account page to begin uploading your photos.

  6. Step 2

    Click on the "Browse" button and select your thumbnail from your computer.

  7. Step 3

    Click the "Open" button to return to your uploading page.

  8. Step 4

    Continue this process until you have selected 6 photos to upload.

  9. Step 5

    Add tags to your group to make it easier to search your own photos by keywords and help others find your photos easily. Type tags into the fields marked "Add Tags For All These Images."

  10. Step 6

    Choose privacy settings by selecting your choice from the radio button options.

  11. Step 7

    Click the "Upload" button to finish uploading a large number of photos.

  12. Uploading Your Photos All At Once By Email

  13. Step 1

    Click the "You" button on any Flickr page and select the "Your Account" option from the drop-down box.

  14. Step 2

    Click on the "Email" tab to view your Flickr "Upload Email" address.

  15. Step 3

    Click on "Edit" to configure tags you would like to have automatically added to your uploaded photos.

  16. Step 4

    Open a new Web page and sign in to your regular email account.

  17. Step 5

    Attach your photos as you would attach a regular document. Click "Attach" and select the thumbnails you would like to upload.

  18. Step 6

    Click "Open" to attach the photograph to your email.

  19. Step 7

    Continue this process for a large number of photographs.

  20. Step 8

    Send your email to the email address specified in the "Email" tab in your Flickr account.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add tags to a group of photos that are uploaded at the same time. You can organize your photos much more easily using this technique.
  • Decide which photos you want to make public. You can alter your privacy levels at any time.
  • Sometimes it can take longer to upload your photos. If a lot of people are trying to access your photos at the same time, you may need to wait for an extra period of time.
  • Keep in mind that when you are attaching photos via email to upload on Flickr, there may be a limit to the photos allowed by your email account.

on 8/6/2008 I strongly discourage relying on Flickr email upload as I found out the hard way during a long trip; basically I couldn't install flickr's uploadr in web cafe so I relied on email upload instead. Turns out that some of the pictures were making it and others not. Doesn't matter if you send from hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail. Flickr just drops *SILENTLY* some of the pictures. It makes me very mad. None of the others (Fotki, Smugmug) have this problem. Flickr's support just says "tough sh*t, we don't officially support multiple photos per email". Argg!!
