How to Add Notes And Tags To Your Photos On Flickr

Adding notes and tags to your Flickr photos helps to facilitate searches. You can use tags to help yourself stay organized with your own album sets. Flickr's user-friendly note and tag format offers an easy way to better label your photos.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Digital camera

    Sign Into Flickr Using Your Yahoo! Account

  1. Step 1

    Enter the Flickr home page and click the "Sign Up!" button (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Type your Yahoo! ID and password in the fields specified.

  3. Step 3

    Click "Sign In" to enter your account.

  4. Sign Into Flickr Using an Existing Account

  5. Step 1

    Enter the Flickr home page and click the "Sign In" link (see Resources below).

  6. Step 2

    Click on the "Sign In Here" link on this page, specified for "Old Skool Members."

  7. Step 3

    Type your email address and password into the fields.

  8. Step 4

    Click "Get In There" to access your account.

  9. Upload Your Photos

  10. Step 1

    Click the "Upload Photos" link to begin uploading photos to your account.

  11. Step 2

    Click on the "Browse" button to select a thumbnail photograph from your computer.

  12. Step 3

    Click on "Open" to add the photo to the image fields.

  13. Add Tags to Your Photos

  14. Step 1

    Add a tag to your photo while still on the "Upload Photos" page. After selecting the thumbnails you would like to upload, direct your attention to the "Add Tags For All These Images" field.

  15. Step 2

    Type useful words in your "Add Tags for All These Images" field. Type separate words divided by a space, or combine words into a phrase by placing quotation marks around them, such as "orange dog."

  16. Edit Your Tags on Your Photos

  17. Step 1

    Click on the "Organize" button from any Flickr page.

  18. Step 2

    Click on "Your Sets" to access your albums.

  19. Step 3

    Browse through your albums by double clicking the main page image and then double clicking the image you would like to edit.

  20. Step 4

    Change your tags by typing in the "Tags" field in the pop-up window.

  21. Step 5

    Click on the "Save" button to save your changes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that when tagging your photos, Flickr automatically removes words like "the," "my," "and" and "an" from your tags.
  • Browse Flickr's official help forum to read their list of FAQs (see Resources below).
  • Get help from the Flickr forums if you have more questions about making tags and notes (see Resources below).
  • If you add tags to a group of photographs selected to upload, the tags you apply will be listed on all the photos you choose to upload
  • Avoid adding personal details to your public Flickr profile to avoid security issues.
