There are no official moderators on Digg.com, and no official rules for what can be discussed. Because Digg.com is such a free-for-all environment, it's inevitable that you will eventually encounter some profanity, whether it be in digital content posted to the site or in another user's comments. But you do have a way out, and that way is to activate the profanity filter.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Current Digg.com registration
  • Access to the Internet
  • Computer

Step1
Visit Digg.com and log in (see the Resources section below).
Step2
Go to your profile page by clicking 'Profile.'
Step3
Find the 'Profile Settings' heading and click 'Edit.'
Step4
Put a check in the 'Enable Profanity Filter' box by clicking on the box.
Step5
Click on 'Save Changes.' You are now protected from having to read any profanity while using Digg.com. If you wish to disable the profanity filter at any time in the future, simply follow steps 1 through 3, then uncheck the 'Enable Profanity Filter' box and click on 'Save Changes.'
Step6
Find additional assistance with anything on Digg.com, including how to activate the profanity filter, by paying a visit to the Digg.com FAQ page.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you activate the profanity filter on Digg.com, any words that are recognized by the system as profanity will appear as a series of asterisks.
  • You may turn the profanity filter on and off as often as you like. For example, you could activate the profanity filter before letting any teenagers go onto Digg.com, then turn off the filter when you use the site yourself. When you turn the profanity filter on or off, the change takes effect right away.
