YouTube has many powerful tools and options, including tools to upload video content and communicate with other YouTube users. One of this site's most useful features is the ability to play video in full-screen mode.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet connection

    Make YouTube Videos Full-Screen

  1. Step 1

Log on to the YouTube home page (see the Resources section below). You can choose to sign in or set up an account, but this is not required.

  2. Step 2

Browse through the various selections of videos and click on one that you would like to view.

  3. Step 3

Click the 'Play' button if the video is not already playing.

  4. Step 4

Roll over the icon on the video player that shows a small gray button on the upper left section of a larger gray rectangle. As you do so, the icon will animate to show the smaller gray shape taking over the rest of the icon.

  5. Step 5

Click this button. Your video should now appear in full-screen mode.

  6. Step 6

Minimize and maximize the size of the pop-up window as you normally would for any browser window. You can use the 'Minimize' and 'Maximize' and 'Close' icons to do so. The 'Close' icon is normally an 'X.'

  7. Control Your YouTube Full-Screen Experience

  8. Step 1

Use the 'Play' button to stop and start the video.

  9. Step 2

Click and drag the progress bar to access a specific portion of the video. The progress bar contains a circle that moves as the video plays.

  10. Step 3

Utilize the volume bar to increase and decrease the sound. You can also click on the small icon of a speaker with sound waves next to it to turn the volume all the way up or down as you watch the video.

  11. Step 4

Click and drag the pop-up window to change its location and size on your screen.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your pop-up blockers are turned off. Full-screen versions of YouTube videos load in a separate browser window.
