How to Discontinue Yahoo! Alerts

Yahoo! Alerts are an easy way to keep abreast of breaking news, weather forecasts, stock- market prices and airline fares. It's easy to sign up for these alerts, but it's also easy to edit, suspend or remove them.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Valid Yahoo! user account

    Access Your Yahoo Account to Edit Your Settings

  1. Step 1

    Go to the Yahoo! home page (see the Resources section below).

  2. Step 2

    Log in to your Yahoo! account by clicking on the 'Sign In' link.

  3. Step 3

    Enter your user name and password. Once logged in, you may change or remove your Yahoo! Alerts.

  4. Remove Previously Created Alerts

  5. Step 1

    Click on the 'My Yahoo!' link.

  6. Step 2

    Find the 'More Yahoo!' link and click it to launch the Everything Yahoo! page.

  7. Step 3

    Open the Alerts page from the link located under the Communications section.

  8. Step 4

    Click on the 'My Alerts' tab to open the list of currently subscribed alerts.

  9. Step 5

    Locate the alert you wish to remove and click the trash can icon next to it to remove it from your active alerts.

  10. Step 6

    Confirm the request to remove the alert by clicking 'Yes' when prompted.

  11. Step 7

    Repeat the above steps to remove additional alerts.

Tips & Warnings
  • As an alternative to permanently removing an alert, you can elect to suspend one or more alerts instead. Just follow to same procedure as for removing an alert, but click the 'On' button rather than the trash can icon. When the red 'Off' icon appears, this alert has been suspended until you enable it again.
  • To suspend all of your alerts at the same time, locate the 'Turn All Alerts' section from the My Alerts page and click the 'Off' link. Your alerts will remain suspended until you enable them again by repeating this process and selecting the 'On' link.
