How to Add Photos to Yahoo! Auctions Listings

Yahoo Auctions is a popular online marketplace for items in almost every conceivable category. However, you'll have a better chance of completing your sale if you include a picture. Here's how to go about it.

Things You’ll Need:

• Items to list for sale
• Computer with Internet connection
• Digital photos
• Yahoo Auctions account

Add Photos to Yahoo! Auctions

1. Call up the Yahoo! Auctions home page (see the Resources section below).
2. Click the 'Sell Stuff' link and enter all details for the item you are listing.
3. Click the 'Add Photos' link on the submission page.
4. Make sure 'All Files' is the default in the 'Files of Type' pull-down menu, so all files are visible in the list. Select the 'Browse' button.
5. Choose a JPEG or GIF file from your computer.
6. Click the 'Open' button.
7. Hit 'Add Photo.' Wait while the photo loads.
8. Add up to three photos using this process.
9. Click 'Done' when you're finished.

Use HTML to Link to Photos on Other Sites

10. Make sure that the photos you will link to are loading properly on the site or sites where they're currently hosted.
11. Add a line of HTML code in your item's description that points to the site's address.
12. Verify that the image you've chosen is not set as your background on the page, or it will not appear.
13. Finish the listing process, and preview the page before making the item live.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure the photos for your listings are clear and that the item is easy to see. Overexposed or dark pictures will not do the trick.
• You may add up to three photos to your auction listing that lives on Yahoo's servers. Seven additional photos can be included, but these must be linked to from elsewhere on the Web.

• Only GIFs or JPEGs are acceptable formats for photos on Yahoo! Auctions.
• The total file size for the three pictures on the Yahoo! Auctions servers may not exceed 1.5MB.
