How to Use PayPal to Buy and Sell Items on Yahoo! Auctions

Think of PayPal as an online electronic pocketbook: it lets you transfer funds to and from your checking and savings accounts, pay for online purchases, and accept credit-card payments from others. Buying and selling items on Yahoo! Auctions is a breeze with PayPal, which makes transactions fast and painless.

  • Internet connection

  • Yahoo! account

    Use PayPal to Sell Items

  1. Step 1

    Load the Yahoo! Auctions home page (see the Resources section below).

  2. Step 2

    Log in if you are not already recognized as a Yahoo user.

  3. Step 3

    Click the 'Sell Stuff' link. You may be asked to re-enter your password. Do so and click 'Sign In.'

  4. Step 4

    Select a category for the item you wish to sell.

  5. Step 5

    Fill out the entire auction submission page, including title, photo and description.

  6. Step 6

    Specify a sales policy by choosing accepted forms of payment. This is when you may utilize your PayPal account. List the service as an accepted method of payment, whether it's the only option or one of many.

    Complete the form, preview it, and submit.

  9. Step 1

    Locate an item you are interested in bidding on or purchasing. Use the tabs or links on the Yahoo! Auctions home page to locate items. Make sure PayPal is listed as an acceptable form of payment.

  10. Step 2

    Choose either the Buy It Now method, or bid on the item. Once you have purchased or won the auction, the system will alert you.

  11. Step 3

    Select PayPal as your method of payment. Selecting this option will take you to your PayPal account, and you may complete the transaction.

Tips & Warnings
  • A Yahoo! Auctions account is required to buy and sell items in the Auctions section. You may use an existing Yahoo! account, but additional information will be required before you can sell.
  • Bids on Yahoo! Auctions items are considered binding.
