    Bid on Auction Items

  1. Step 1

Load the Yahoo! Auctions home page (see the Resources section below) and click 'Log In' to enter your Yahoo username and password. If you already see your username listed on top, there's no need to log in again.

  2. Step 2

Browse through the various auctions categories by clicking on links or tabs on the Yahoo! Auctions home page. You should see links such as 'Jewelry & Watches,' Antiques & Art' and 'Sports Cards.'

  3. Step 3

Click on the link to the item name to call up specific details. Drill down further within a category by clicking on navigation links on the category main page.

  4. Step 4

Read the specifications for the item listed. If you do indeed wish to buy, find the 'Place A Bid' section of the details page.

  5. Step 5

Verify the Minimum Bid, which will be listed for you. Enter your Maximum Bid in the box provided. This is the maximum amount you are willing to spend on the item, regardless how high the bidding goes.

  7. Step 7

    Click the 'Preview Bid' button.

  8. Step 8

Select the 'Place This Bid' button, or hit 'Cancel' to retract your bid.

  10. Step 1

Click the 'Buy It Now' link on the item page. Note that not all auctions offer this option.

  11. Step 2

Select 'Buy Now' to confirm or 'Cancel.'
