Step 1
Open the Wikipedia Main Page (see the Resources section below). Click 'Sign In/Create Account' to add new material to Wikipedia.

Access the Wikipedia Help page by clicking 'Help' in the navigation box. Click 'Editing Wikipedia' and find 'Creating Pages--How To:'. Then click 'Start A New Page.'

Click 'Develop The Article' for detailed information on the stages an article goes through as it is being developed. Follow the 'Editing Help' link to get information on how to format your article.

Determine if your idea is suitable and needed by Wikipedia. Follow the link on the Article Development page to 'Belong In Wikipedia' to understand Wikipedia's content guidelines.

Research current Wikipedia content for related material. Enter the topic in the 'Search' box and click 'Go' or 'Search' for more extensive listings.

Check out the editing tutorial on Wikipedia for a brief but informative look at how to edit and submit an article. From the 'Help' page, click 'Tutorial' in the 'Editing' category.

Experiment in the 'Sandbox' before you submit your first article. You can find a link to the 'Sandbox' on the page entitled 'Help: Starting A New Page.'

Read the guidelines for choosing a page name. From the Wikipedia Main Page click 'Help,' followed by 'Editing Wikipedia.' Choose 'Name A Page' under the 'Creating Pages--How To:' section.

Learn to translate articles. Select 'Help' on the Main Page, and then click on 'Editing Wikipedia.' Choose 'Translate Articles' under the 'Article Maintenance--How To:' heading.

Learn to make links and cite references. Click 'Help' on the Wikipedia Main Page, followed by 'Links And References.'

Follow the guidelines to add images to articles. Each article you submit should be accompanied by an image. On the Wikipedia Main Page, select 'Help' followed by the link to 'Images And Media' to understand Wikipedia's image requirements.

Monitor changes for enhancement and vandalism. From the Wikipedia Main Page, select 'Help,' and then 'Keeping Track Of Changes,' followed by 'Recent Changes.'

Learn to revert a page to undo vandalism. Click on 'Help,' then 'Keeping Track Of Changes,' followed by 'Reverting A Page.'

Go to the Help page, and then click 'Editing Wikipedia.' Under 'Creating Pages--How To:', click 'Start A New Page.' Select 'Starting A Page From A Link, Or After A Search' from the Contents box.

Select 'Starting A Page Through The URL' from the Contents box for an alternate method of starting a page. You can also choose 'Creating An Empty Page' from the Contents box or 'Creating Using A Redirect To A Sub Or Supra Topic Page' from the Contents box for additional ways to create an editable page.
