MySpace has quickly become one of the Internet's most popular virtual communities, with literally millions of users and more signing up every day. One of its greatest assets is its ability to allow users to customize and personalize their profiles with simple HTML codes..

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Knowledge of HTML coding
  • Internet access
  • MySpace account
  • Computer

Use HTML Codes in Your MySpace Profile

  1. Step 1

Log on to your MySpace account by entering your login information in the 'Member Sign In' box (see the Resources section below). If you haven't already done so, you can create an account by clicking on the 'Sign Me Up!' link.

  2. Step 2

Select the section of your profile where you wish to place your HTML code. Most often this will be the 'Edit Profile' section, although HTML can be posted in the 'Manage Blog' section as well. You can also input HTML code to other people's web pages using the 'Add Comment' links.

  3. Step 3

Enter the HTML code directly into the text field as you would enter it into an HTML editor. Separate it from actual text so that it is easy to read and doesn't end up conflicting with anything else in the field.

  4. Step 4

Confirm your HTML code before you post it. Most sections of MySpace allow you to preview an entry before submitting it for posting, so you can check to see if your code is working correctly. You'll be able to see if videos, images or any other functions need to be moved, resized or adjusted.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check your profile from time to time if you use images, videos or songs that are hosted by other sites. Sometimes Web sites shut down, and your profile will be incomplete until you change the HTML code.
  • Errors in coding can be difficult to detect within MySpace, simply because MySpace doesn't break up the code into readable chunks. You'll want to use a text editor to proofread your HTML code if there turns out to be an error.
  • Change your password on a regular basis to avoid 'phishers' who will try to access your account and send messages and post bulletins posing as you.
