Download and Update MySpace Instant Messenger

1. Log into your MySpace account by entering your account information in the 'Member Sign In' box (see the Resources section below). You can also take this opportunity to set up a new account by clicking the 'Sign Me Up!' link.

2. Click on a link connecting you to a friend's profile. You can do this either by clicking on one of your friends in your 'Top 8' or by clicking 'View All Friends' and selecting a friend from your list.

3. Click on 'Send Instant Message' from the contact menu on your chosen friend's profile's homepage. This will either open your MySpace Instant Messenger program, or it will open a dialog box with instructions for how to download it.

4. Begin the download process by clicking the 'Download Now' button. You can then open the program by double clicking on the file's icon.

5. Wait to see if there are updates, which you will be prompted to install when available. Updates are handled automatically.

Tips & Warnings

• Turn off Instant Messenger when it's not in use. This program requires a lot of memory, and can cause your system to perform poorly. This is especially true if you're also running other instant messenger programs like AIM or MSN Messenger.

• Be aware that strangers may add you to their friend lists and send you instant messages before you know who they are. It's important to remember this, particularly if you have children and want to protect them from the dangers of the Internet.
