MySpace is a huge Internet community with millions of users--and more signing up every day, including children. Some of the themes and content posted in MySpace profiles are inappropriate for kids, so it's important to know how to block (or unblock) you children's accounts.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • MySpace account
  • Computer

Learn to Block and Unblock Users on MySpace

  1. Step 1

Log into MySpace by entering your (or your child's) account information into the 'Member Sign In' box (see the Resources section below). You'll need to create an account by clicking the 'Sign Me Up!' link if you haven't done so already.

  2. Step 2

Click on a link to a user's profile that you suspect of being troublesome. The link can be either the profile's image or the name associated with it. This will redirect you to that person's profile page.

  3. Step 3

Click the 'Block User' link in the 'Contact' box. Doing this means that this user will be unable to send comments, images, videos or messages to your kids, unless you choose to unblock communications.

  4. Step 4

Unblock a user by revisiting the profile in question and clicking on the 'Unblock User' link. It will be located in the spot where the original 'Block User' button had appeared.

Tips & Warnings
  • Monitor your children's accounts and activities if you allow them to use MySpace. Keep tabs on who their friends are, as well as their incoming and outgoing messages, particularly from strangers. This will help you keep them safe from potential hazards.
  • Make sure you have your child's account information on hand at all times. This will allow you to access their account whenever you need to insure their safety.
  • The Internet is a powerful resource, but has a great potential for misuse. Scam artists, spammers, cons and predators use the Internet as well. Common sense should always prevail when dealing with strangers via the Internet, particularly on community Web sites like MySpace.
