Instructions

  1. Determine if Someone Is Logged Onto MySpace

    • 1

Log on to your MySpace profile by accessing the MySpace homepage and entering your account information in the 'Member Sign In' box (see the Resources section below). Create an account using the 'Sign Me Up!' link if you don't already have an active profile.

    • 2

Open your Friends list by clicking 'View All Friends.' This list can be several pages in length, so if your friend is not immediately visible, click the page numbers to access the complete list.

    • 3

Look beneath the name and picture of your friend to see if the phrase 'Online Now!' appears. If it does, then at the time you opened that page, that person is currently online and browsing a page within the MySpace community.

    • 4

Click on either the picture or the name of your friend to access the link to his profile.

    • 5

Check to see if someone is online by looking at the entry entitled 'Last Login.' This will either give the date of his last login, or will tell you that he's 'Online Now!'

    • 6

Be aware that some HTML codes can be embedded in your or another's profile to change the appearance of the 'Online Now!' icon. Just remember that as long as some form of icon is displayed and not a simple date, that friend is currently online.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sometimes the MySpace server can lag when providing a friend's account status. This lag can be a minute or more, so keep that in mind if you try to contact someone via MySpace's embedded chat function.
