To some of you, "pimping" your MySpace page may mean something totally different; but in the MySpace lexicon, it means to modify your page. Of course it isn't truly "pimp" unless it's super cool with a ton of fun customizations. Follow these steps to find out how to "pimp" your page.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • MySpace account

    Customize Your MySpace Layout

  1. Step 1

Log in to MySpace to begin editing your MySpace profile (see Resources below). From your home page, or dashboard, you can find directions for adding key elements to your page.

  2. Step 2

Click on "Edit Profile" to gain access to the area where you can write about yourself and add HTML code.

  3. Step 3

Pimp your layout by modifying the background and section styles in your layout. If you don't know CSS and HTML, Thomas' MySpace Editor will generate simple code for your site (see Resources below). Add style code to the "About Me" section.

  4. Step 4

Click "Save All Changes" to lock in your new layout. To see what your page looks like to other people, click on "View My Profile." Don't worry about changes not showing up in preview mode. Most site-wide modifications will not.

  5. Pimp Your Page with Widgets, Music and Videos

  6. Step 1

Add MySpace Videos to your page. Whenever you come across a video on MySpace you like, you have the choice to add it to your page. Just click "Add to Profile."

  7. Step 2

Share your favorite song. Navigate to your favorite artist's MySpace page and click "Add Song" next to the song you want. "Pimp" your page by adding the latest hits.

  8. Step 3

Get creative by adding fun widgets. Widgets are simple flash objects that embed games, movies, calculators and voice recorders. You name it! There is probably a widget to add. Just paste the code ("Ctrl + V") into the section you want the object to appear in.

  9. Step 4

Add more songs and videos through third-party sites. If you do not find what you are looking for, you can always add videos and music that hosted on a file sharing site. Try to avoid players that start automatically so you don't freeze your friends' browsers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't go overboard! The more you add to your page, the busier and less "pimp" it will look.
  • The "MySpace Help Screen" is a good source of additional tips for customizing your page (see Resources below).
  • Be on the lookout for malicious codes that hack you Web site, hijack your visitors or install nasty software on your computer.
