Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet Access
  • Valid email address

Get on MySpace for the First Time

  1. Step 1

Visit MySpace and click on the "Sign Up!" button to get started (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Fill out the simple registration form. The country you choose from the drop-down selections will not only determine the main language of your MySpace homepage, but also the specific region of the country from which you're connecting to MySpace.

  3. Step 3

Choose a main photo. You can upload your initial image, which will appear as your main photo until you add more images later. Photos should be less than 600k.

  4. Step 4

Invite your friends. Show off your new profile by inviting your friends to join MySpace. Click the "Invite" link on the main tab, then enter each email address separated by a comma in the box provided.

  5. Set up Your Profile

  6. Step 1

Log in to your new MySpace account.

  7. Step 2

Make a name for yourself. Pick a custom URL the first time you log in to make your MySpace page easily accessible.

  8. Step 3

Click "Edit Profile" to add a quick bio and your interests. Keep it simple or add widgets, images and videos with simple code insertions.

  9. Step 4

Save all changes. You can preview your profile or a specific section before your save it, but make sure that you click "Save All Changes" before you close your browser.

  10. Step 5

Hide yourself. Click "Account Settings" on your homepage to change your privacy. "Change Settings" for privacy to make your profile viewable to only those people you add as friends and to decide who can request you.

  11. Step 6

Upload more photos. Click "Add/Change Photos" to add additional images to your profile.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a password that is easy to remember, but not easy to guess. The more someone knows about you (sometimes by reading your MySpace profile), the easier it is for them to figure out your password.
  • Registering for MySpace allows you to see other users' photos as well as add friends and send bulletins.
  • For additional help registering for a MySpace account, visit the "MySpace Help Screen" (see Resources below).
  • Be careful of phishing scams that collect your MySpace password using emails from fake MySpace accounts.
