As a worldwide social networking Web site, MySpace allows you to create a profile and link up with your friends online. Registering and creating a basic profile is easy. Follow these steps to get started in a matter of minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet Access
  • Valid email address

    Register for MySpace

  1. Step 1

Head to the MySpace home page and click "Sign Up!" (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Fill in your email address, name and password. Be sure to choose a password that is easy for you to remember, but not so easy for others to figure out.

  3. Step 3

Choose the language and country of your choice by picking from the drop-down list. MySpace has sites focused towards several countries.

  4. Step 4

Upload a personal photo. This photo will be your initial image on your profile. You may choose to upload a photo later by selecting "Skip for now."

  5. Step 5

Share your new profile. Invite your friends to create a profile on MySpace by entering their email addresses separated by a comma. You can also "Skip for now" to complete your registration without inviting your friends.

  6. Create Your Custom Profile on MySpace

  7. Step 1

Personalize your profile by clicking on "Edit Profile." From a short bio in the "About Me" section to your favorite books and movies, fill in the appropriate boxes with your interests.

  8. Step 2

Add more photos. Click on "Add/Edit Photos" to upload additional photos. Photos must be under 600k in a "GIF" or "JPG" format.

  9. Step 3

Customize your profile further by adding a video. Click on "Add/Change Videos" to choose a video for your page. You can upload you own or select from a public video.

  10. Step 4

Personalize your URL by picking your "MySpace Name/URL." This gives your MySpace profile an URL that can easily be remembered and typed into the address bar.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must verify your email address after you complete registration to unlock the full potential of your profile. If you don't receive the initial verification email, click on the link under "Verify your email address!" to resend it or contact customer service.
  • Find help with any trouble you might run into with MySpace's extensive Frequently Asked Questions section (see Resources below).
  • Unless the birthday you enter makes you under 13, your profile will be public initially. To change your privacy settings click on "Account Settings" and "Change Settings" for privacy. You can make your profile public or viewable only to friends, as well as choose setting for invites and comments.
