How to Save Webcam Views On MSN

Using a Webcam with MSN Explorer allows you to use your computer as a video phone. You can show your friends what you are doing or show distant relatives what is happening in your home. Perhaps your baby is taking his or her first steps. If the grandparents can't be there to watch, you can bring out your Webcam and use MSN Messenger to transmit the video feed. What if they want to save either the video or still frame views that were captured on MSN? That feature is not built into MSN. Thankfully, there are programs available that allow you to save Webcam views from MSN. Follow these steps to find out how.

• Webcam to capture video
• Software to edit video

Download Bulent's Screen Recorder

1. Log into your MSN account (see Resources below).

2. Click the link called "Bulent's Screen Recorder--Download Freeware Version 1.5a."

3. On the next page, click the link called "Download Bulent's Screen Recorder 1.5a."

4. Click "Save" when the download box appears.

5. Choose the download location and click "Save" again.

6. Go to the "Capturing MSN Messenger Webcam" Web site (see Resources below).

7. Double click the program to open it on your computer.

8. Choose "Run" if you encounter a security warning.

9. Click the "Next" button when the installation program opens.

10. Click the circle "Yes I Agree" to the terms and conditions and click the "Next" button.

11. Click the "Next" button once again after choosing an installation location.

12. Click the "Finish" button when the installation is finished.

13. Open MSN Messenger and begin sending video from your Web cam.

14. Open Bulent's Screen Recorder.

15. Click on the "Select Source" button and then use your mouse and press on select "A Region" from the menu.

16. Choose a pixel dimension that's 166 by 124.

17. Click the "Camera" button to begin recording.

18. Click the "Stop" button when you are finished.

19. Click the "Save" button to save your video. You now have saved views from MSN that you can edit.
