How to Use Monster Career Tools

There are many career tools available to job seekers on Monster. There are sections on career advice, company research and resume help. To fully take advantage of these tools, simply browse the Web site for relevant sections that will help you in your job search. Follow these steps to find out how.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access

    Use the Career Advice Tab

  1. Step 1

    Log on to Monster's homepage (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Enter your username and password when prompted. Note that if you don't have an account, you will need to create one by clicking "Sign up."

  3. Step 3

    Click on the "Career Advice" tab.

  4. Step 4

    Navigate these Monster content pages dedicated to career tools. Here, you'll find sub-categories like "Essentials" and "Starting Points" to point your search in the right direction.

  5. Use the Post Resume Tab

  6. Step 1

    Create a new resume or update old ones by clicking on "Build online." Note that you can copy and paste a resume or upload one from a Microsoft Word document as well.

  7. Step 2

    Select "Build a Monster Resume" to use the resume tools to create a sparkling work history to use to apply for online jobs.

  8. Step 3

    Make up to five versions of your resume to suit different positions in your industry or across different industries.

  9. Use Other Resources

  10. Step 1

    Create a job search agent in the "Find Jobs" tab to pinpoint jobs through a dedicated search.

  11. Step 2

    Research salary ranges using the "Monster Career Advice" tab.

  12. Step 3

    Post your resume in your "Networking Profile" to get feedback from your peers in your industry.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to pinpoint career tools for your job search, check out Monster's "Career Advice" section for endless articles and advice (see Resources below).
  • If you find you are getting too many unwanted emails regarding your posted resume, try setting your profile to "private" in the "Post Resume" screen.
  • Never provide credit card information to a third-party claiming to represent Monster. Monster will never send you email correspondence from an outside source. Further, you will never be asked for your user name, password or financial information in an email. Visit the Monster Security Center for more details (see Resources below).
