How to Find Community Events On Craigslist

Craigslist offers postings for local community events in many cities, states and countries across the world. To find events in your community, all you have to do is log in and search for listings that fit your interests. Here's how to find community events on Craigslist:

Search Postings

1. Go to Craigslist and log in (view the link in Resources below).

2. Choose a city, state or country to narrow your search to a specific area. Craigslist can be a great way to look for events in cities or countries you plan to visit soon as well as those in your own community.

3. Click the "Events" link to search for community events.

4. View your search results by date. For detailed information, click each title to see the full ad posting.

Gather Information

1. Write down pertinent information about events you would like to attend. This could include the time, date, venue and cost to attend.

2. Send an email to the address in the posting if you have any questions about the event. Or call the phone number if one is listed.

Respond If Necessary

1. RSVP to a particular event in your community if the ad specifies this action as necessary for attendance. For instance, many clubs and limited events will ask you to RSVP prior to arrival. This can usually be done through email or by phone. The ad should specify the preferred method for responding.

2. Send a response even if you aren't sure that you are going to attend, especially when events are free. This way, you will be covered in case you do decide to attend.

• Events on Craigslist are listed by date, starting with today. Future events are listed farther down the list.

• Keep in mind that many of the dates on the events page are ongoing. This is indicated by a date range at the beginning of the posting title as opposed to simply a single date.

• When responding to a community event ad, never give your name or phone number.

• Be wary of unfamiliar events or parties that ask for money upfront without a receipt or ticket in return. Many times these posting are legitimate, but there are some people who will take your money and run. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
