You can buy electronics on Craigslist, including televisions, computers, audio equipment and other smaller devices. Follow these steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Search for Electronics on Craigslist

  1. Step 1

Visit the Craigslist's home page to search for electronics (see Resources section).

  2. Step 2

Select your city, state or country to localize your search criteria by area.

  3. Step 3

Choose the "Electronics" link under the classified postings on the home page.

  4. Step 4

Use the search dialog box on the electronics results page to narrow your search. Specify price range and keywords to find the electronics you want.

  5. Step 5

Choose ads that include pictures of the electronics to further target your search. Identify these ads by the orange "pic" designation at the end of the listed titles. You can also designate that the search engine summon only ads with images.

  6. Buy Electronics on Craigslist

  7. Step 1

Click the embedded link in the ad to contact the seller. This link appears as a blue hyperlinked email address and often begins with a string of letters and/or numbers.

  8. Step 2

Make an offer for the electronics through an email. If the seller lists a phone number, call to express your interest. Ask questions about the item before you commit to a purchase.

  9. Step 3

Be patient. You'll see thousands of ads daily, but take your time to decide, especially on big-ticket electronics like HD TVs or surround-sound systems.

  10. Step 4

Choose only the ads that sound reputable. If most sellers are selling the same product for $400 to $500 and another is offering the identical item for $200, exercise caution.

  11. Step 5

Wait for the seller to respond. Arrange payment and shipping details after the seller agrees to your purchase.

  12. Step 6

Ensure the item is in good working order when you receive it. If not, contact the seller and arrange for a refund or exchange of goods.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you make a purchase from an out-of-town buyer, exercise caution. Stipulate payment upon receipt for any items that must be shipped. This way, you can examine the item before you pay.
  • Foreign electronics often are not compatible with American software, hardware and power supply sources. Buy electronics made for U.S. use.
  • Refuse transactions that involve money wires, escrow services or third-party shippers. These are usually a sure sign of a scam. To avoid fraud, complete the transaction in person and pay cash on delivery.

on 9/23/2008 It is way easier to find electronic equipment when you can see the images. This tool ads the images right under the craigslist search results. http://www.craigstoolbox.com
