Finding tuxedos for your wedding can be a difficult task. Outside of maybe having rented one for a friend’s wedding, you probably haven't thought about a tuxedo since your senior prom. Read on to learn how to rent tuxedos for the groomsmen in your wedding.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consult your budget with your fiancé to see how much money will be available. Tuxedo rentals can be expensive, but elegant formal wear is a requisite for your wedding.

  2. Step 2

Decide how many groomsmen will be in your wedding. While the bride will have a similar decision to make, traditionally, the number of groomsmen and bridesmaids will be equal.

  3. Step 3

Pick out the tuxedo the groom will wear. These often aren’t in the same color scheme as the tuxedos of the groomsmen, as the groom should wear a different tuxedo.

  4. Step 4

Get a few ideas of a color scheme for the groomsmen. The shade can be based on the colors of the wedding or complement the bridesmaids’ dresses.

  5. Step 5

Search through the local business directory or go online to find local men’s formal wear retailers. Visit some of the stores and look through the options they have in terms of color, style and price.

  6. Step 6

Take that information, and go to a few more businesses. You will find you will learn more as you go, so be prepared with questions for that business.

  7. Step 7

Finalize the specific tuxedo you want the groomsmen to wear, and reserve them.

  8. Step 8

Tell all the groomsmen you have chosen the tuxedo, and have them write down the shop’s location. They will need to get measured at their earliest convenience, so ask them to go in as soon as they can.

Tips & Warnings
  • The groomsmen will be renting the tuxedos, so communicate with them that the earlier than can get measured, the better. You don’t want to leave a short amount of time in case they encounter any problems.
  • Take into account subtle size differences if you or one of the groomsmen is planning on losing weight before the wedding. Don’t wait until a day before the wedding to get measured, but you might want to delay getting measured until two weeks before the wedding. This will make sure your body size is as accurate as possible.
  • It is traditional for the groomsmen to pay for their tuxedo rental. Make sure they know that, but thank them for their help in this manner.
