When you plan for an outdoor wedding, you must consider the same basic elements of planning any event that will take place outdoors. It is important to know that all forces of nature could affect your planning. Read on to learn how to plan an outdoor wedding.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Wedding planner
  • Computer with Internet access

Step1
Determine a date for the wedding. Consider your ideal time, season and weather conditions. See if this is possible to have the ceremony outdoors.
Step2
Research and find several locations that would fit your budget. Ask about contingency plans in case it should rain during your wedding.
Step3
Ask yourself what exactly you plan on bringing to the outdoor wedding site. If it does rain, you may need a tent. Plan ahead and figure out what type of furniture and equipment you will need.
Step4
Consider putting an “In case of rain” note on all invitations in case the venue does get rained out. Have a back-up place to hold the reception.
Step5
If you still need to work out the finer details, consider hiring a wedding planner.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never give up on checking the weather as the day draws closer. Check the forecasts.
  • Provide wooden chairs instead of metal chairs. In case of rain, and thunderstorms, this will be the safest option against lightening.
