The details are what pull a wedding together. When you select flowers for the groomsmen, you are adding one more brushstroke to your masterpiece. Well-chosen flowers not only match the colors of the wedding, they also convey the spirit of the ceremony. Read on to learn how to select flowers for the groomsmen.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Color swatches
  • Flower catalog
  1. Step 1

Assemble color swatches that match the colors of your wedding. Also obtain a swatch of material that matches the suits the groomsmen will be wearing during the ceremony.

  2. Step 2

Consult a flower catalog that has full-color pictures of a wide variety of blooms. Compare the pictures to the color and material swatches. Mark those flowers that are good color matches.

  3. Step 3

Note what time of the year the selected flowers are in bloom. Flowers are less expensive during the times of year that they naturally are in bloom.

  4. Step 4

Narrow down the range of choices to those flowers that are in bloom around the time of your wedding.

  5. Step 5

Use the theme of your wedding to make your second cut. How does this work? Here is an example: If your theme is elegant, a rose might make a nice choice, but a daisy wouldn't. Only two or three of the flowers you have chosen so far should make this second cut.

  6. Step 6

Choose the flower that the groomsmen will wear during your wedding. This is the hardest decision because you have to listen to what your heart is telling you.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your wedding is around Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, expect to pay significantly more for fresh flowers than at other times of the year due to increased demand.
  • You can also clip pictures from bridal magazines, gardening magazines or other sources to get ideas for floral arrangements.
