1
Since we only have one day a year when any devilishness is accepted, start thinking about your pranks at least two weeks ahead of time. Some tricks may require planning if they are to come off without a hitch.
-
2
Take your time planning how you want to prank each person. Careful planning will not only create an effortless prank but also will help determine if it is appropriate.
-
-
3
Tailor your sneakiness for each person you plan on pranking. Is someone you know not savvy with computers? Try switching their mouse and keyboard inputs. The more you tailor the trick specifically for each person, the more fun the both of you will have.
-
4
Consider if some of the people on your trick list are brick walls when it comes to pranks and jokes. If someone doesn't have a healthy sense of humor, you might want to skip them.
-
5
Take a few minutes to play out the prank scenario in your head. Imagine how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of the trick. Would you be upset about the prank? If so, you might want to rethink the prank. Try not pull a prank that you wouldn't want pulled on you.
-
6
In the days leading to April Fool's, buy any supplies you need for the prank. Do you need disappearing ink to spray on a neat-freak friend? How about a plastic bug to scare a friend who's scared of bugs? Make sure you know where you need to buy your supplies from.
-
7
On April 1, set all of your plans into action. Keep a straight face while your unsuspecting victim sets their self up for the prank. Act as if everything is normal. Don't remind them that it is April Fool's Day.
-
8
When a friend falls into one of your traps, pause a few seconds to let the action sink in, then reveal your trickery. This will give them paranoia of not knowing how this happened, but then the reassurance that it's all in good fun.
-
9
Keep your wits about you for any pranks played on you. If someone has the means to get a trick through your defenses, congratulate them while laughing the effects off.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid any pranks that can permanently damage clothing or do any bodily harm to someone.
Encourage any children by pranking them the same as any adult. Teach them how you can harmlessly pull of a prank of epic proportions and still have fun. This way they won't get any ideas for hurtful tricks, such as cutting someone else's hair or defacing a loved toy.

Thanks for the warnings. It's so easy for pranks to get out of hand. My son worked for Starbucks last year. 5:00 AM is the best time to pull a prank. He told his customers that they had run out of regular and only had decaf! It was 8:30 before someone didn't get "caught" and he bought their drink for them. -
