Things You'll Need:
- Computer with Internet access
-
Step 1
Decide on a budget. Most couples spend about $2,000 to $5,000 on their honeymoon which is more than enough to enjoy a short vacation. There are always ways to cut costs. You can choose a cheaper flight, and be flexible on dates and location. You can also count on receiving some money as a wedding gift.
-
Step 2
Think of what type of venue you want. What kind of environment do you want? A posh hotel provides maximum privacy, room service and gourmet dining. A resort or cabin will have a lot of activities, but may be crowded with tourists and families. A bed and breakfast is quaint and intimate and a motel is inexpensive.
-
Step 3
Choose dates. You might be eager to get away right after the reception, but consider being a bit flexible. You can often save hundreds of dollars by leaving a day early or a day late. Also, take into account the season--ski resorts in summer are cheaper and less crowded but still have plenty of activities.
-
Step 4
Talk to a travel agent. You can get all-inclusive packages for a discount if you work with the right people.
-
Step 5
Browse some venues. Any reputable venue is going to have a Web site. Look up a few venues on the Web and request more information. See the Resources section below for some links.
-
Step 6
Prepare to travel to Canada. Get a passport well in advance. Contact your post office several months ahead of time. Take a look at United States and Canada Web sites that focus on traveling to and from Canada. Keep abreast of any restrictions or special considerations.
-
Step 7
Narrow your choices down to two or three favorites. Compare costs, activities, convenience and any other considerations. Make a final decision. Make sure you feel good about your choice and won't have any regrets.
