Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Colorful polymer clays
  • Hollow cake tin
  • Varnish
  • Oven
  • Crochet, knitting needle or toothpick
  • Flat tray
  1. Step 1

Get a ball of polymer clay in the color of your choice.

  2. Step 2

Knead the clay with your palm to make it warm and more pliable.

  3. Step 3

Divide it into small balls of equal size. Ensure that the balls are at least the size of a penny.

  4. Step 4

Take each ball one by one and give each one of them a cylindrical shape using your palm. It should create vein patterns on the beads. In case you are not satisfied with the veining you can re-shape them.

  5. Step 5

Pass a knitting needle, crocheting needle or even a toothpick through the center of these beads to facilitate threading later.

  6. Step 6

Hang the beads on a hollow cake tin so that they can dry. This process also helps the beads retain its proper shape.

  7. Step 7

Bake the beads in the oven in a hanging position at 2650 F or 1300 C. It takes about 30 minutes for the beads to harden.

  8. Step 8

Cool the beads. Take them out one by one of the needle slowly and carefully and keep them in a flat tray.

  9. Step 9

Protect the beads with a coat of varnish after hardening.

Tips & Warnings
  • Create different shapes of various sizes such as triangles, squares and circles. Use a knife as well as and bead roller to make different shapes.
  • Knead different colors of polymer clay together to create a funky, abstract pattern on the beads.
