Maybe you made a promise to your best friend years ago that he'd be the best man in your wedding, but you haven't spoken for a while. Maybe you're best buds don't hold the same place in your life that you brothers always have. How do you choose your groomsmen? Here are some suggestions.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the role that your groomsmen will play in your wedding. They'll be their to stand by you, and they will also be responsible for seating your guests.

  2. Step 2

Consider the popular choices for groomsmen: your brother, your fiances brother, close friends and other family members.

  3. Step 3

Think about what you want from your groomsmen and talk it over with your fiance.

  4. Step 4

Keep in mind that it is your wedding and, though some friends might be hurt at first by not being chosen to be your groomsmen, your friends and family will understand and respect your choices.

  5. Step 5

Narrow down your options based on the characteristics that you are looking for in your groomsmen.

  6. Step 6

Choose the people whom you believe will best be there for you–—both at your wedding and reception and while you are planning the wedding.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in mind that your choice really is up to you.
  • Don't choose someone who isn't the person you want to be in your wedding party based on other people's opinions; choose the person that's right for you.
