When you plan your wedding reception menu, think about the theme you want to have. Then, it will be easier for you to choose which items to include in the menu.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have you set a theme for your wedding reception? If so, maybe an Italian meal would fit, or even a Mexican meal.

  2. Step 2

Once you have determined the theme for your wedding reception, it will be easier to choose the items to add to the menu. From there, choosing a menu will not be much different than any other wedding reception menu planning.

  3. Step 3

Determine where you will be holding your reception. Find out whether they provide catering or if you will be required to choose your own caterer.

  4. Step 4

Let the caterer know what foods you are interested in including on the menu.

  5. Step 5

Schedule a time to meet with the caterer to taste the items that they will be preparing and select the items that will go onto your wedding reception menu.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in mind that, with any menu for a wedding reception, you will likely want to include a meat item, a poultry item and a vegetarian option.
  • If you don't like a food item, take care not to add it to your reception menu as it may not appeal to your guests either.
