There are many advantages to renting a tuxedo. Each time you wear the suit, you can be sure that it is fashionably in style, brand new and always the size you currently wear. When making decisions for your wedding, it’s always a safe bet to rent tuxedos for the groomsmen.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Groomsmen
  • Formalwear shop
  1. Step 1

Give yourself enough time. Begin at least 2 months prior to the wedding to ensure everyone can make arrangements to visit to the store. Expect to make several trips.

  2. Step 2

Coordinate the tuxedos for the groomsmen with the attire of the bride and groom and the female attendants. Usually the groom’s tux will be different, but be sure they look like they belong together. Look for a way to tie in the color and style of the dresses of the female attendants and the theme of the wedding.

  3. Step 3

Compare the choices. Call formal wear stores and look online to discover the different services available. Price is not the only differentiating factor to consider. Check what care the tuxedos receive and how many times they’ve been rented.

  4. Step 4

Get measurements. Rental shops will alter each tux to ensure a correct fit. Your groomsmen will need to make a trip the store to have measurements taken.

  5. Step 5

Prepare for the final fitting. Visit the store with your groomsmen a day or two before the wedding to be sure that each tux fits properly and is clean and pressed. The groomsmen can then take them home to hang up for the big day.

  6. Step 6

Return the tuxedos. The groomsmen will be responsible for bringing the tux back to the shop at the agreed upon time. This is usually a day or two after the wedding.

Tips & Warnings
  • The groom’s tux is often included for free when the groomsmen’s tuxedos are rented from the same store.
  • Out-of-town attendants can receive their measurements from a local shop and call them in to the respective site.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute. Tuxedo shops will be busiest in May and June.
