When you are planning your wedding in your head as a little girl, what is one of the first things you decide is going to be in the ceremony? The flowers. You always have an idea of the perfect wedding with the perfect flowers. Well, the time has come for the wedding and you know how expensive the perfect flowers can be. Here is how to save money your flowers for your wedding.

From Quick Guide: Wedding Flowers 101
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Florist
  • Computer with Internet access
  1. Step 1

Be simple. Of course, this may sound extremely elementary but simple is the best way to save money. If you are thinking of having flowers on the ends of every pew, thousands of roses covering the altar and the biggest bouquet known to man, know that you are going to be paying dearly. But, if you keep the amount of flowers and kinds to a minimum you will go easy on your budget.

  2. Step 2

Go wild. Nothing is more beautiful than wild flowers. Why not use them in your wedding? The array of colors can really accent any color motif.

  3. Step 3

Think silk. Even if the idea makes your skin crawl, think about getting fake flowers. Some of the fake flowers on the market now are just as pretty as real ones.

  4. Step 4

Stay timely. Try to stay within your season. Spring bride? Lilacs might be the best choice for a spring flower. Fall nuptials? Have you thought of using the colorful fall foliage in the wedding?

  5. Step 5

Think outside the flower box. Don't get so stuck on one color or flower type that you can't look at other kinds. Often times you can find something else at a lower price that you might never have thought of.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sometimes you can make paper flowers that make the church look like a giant garden. Gather some girlfriends and get to making some pretty flowers. You can get a lot done in a Saturday morning.
  • Have everyone bring a flower. This might sound crazy, but how neat of a wedding bouquet would it be if everyone in your wedding party contributed one flower to it. More special and unique.
  • Do some reading. Make sure that your florist isn't ripping you off. Know what you are really buying!
  • If you are going with the wild flower look, remember you can't just pick them from just anywhere. Removing flowers from a flower sanctuary or state park is illegal. Make sure your honeymoon isn't spent in the slammer.
