Step 1
Consider what the groom will need to do to get into top shape. If he needs to lose five pounds and tone up, four months should be adequate. If he needs to drop fifty pounds, you may want to get him to start a year before the wedding.
-
Step 2
Do not plan to begin a fitness program any less than one month before the wedding. Not only will the effects of exercise not be noticeable in this amount of time, the groom could become so sore that he is unable to enjoy the wedding.
-
Step 3
Go to the gym with the groom. Misery loves company!
-
Step 4
If you are not interested in going to the gym or cannot coordinate your schedules so you can go at the same time, enlist the help of someone else in the wedding party.
-
Step 5
Hire a personal trainer to work with the groom. If he knows you are going to be charged for a session even if he does not show up, he may be more likely to go.
-
Step 6
Remember to be encouraging and complimentary of efforts, as well as results.
