Add Links to Your Podcast Using GarageBand

In addition to the audio portion of your podcast, you can add artwork and links to help guide the listener of the podcast. You can organize it, so that when the audio gets to a certain section, a link pops up and the listener has the option of clicking on it to get more information. Here's how you add links to your podcast using GarageBand.

Things You'll Need

  • computer
  • internet connection
  • GarageBand software
  • a recorded podcast to work with

Instructions

    • 1

Open up your podcast episode in GarageBand.

    • 2

Plan out the sections in your podcast that you feel would be enhanced by adding a link.

    • 3

Drag the Playhead to the first place you want to add a link. What you're going to do is create a marker, which is the section of the audio podcast where the link (and other information) will show up. Click the Add Marker button.

    • 4

The podcast track will show the marker that you've created, and a window will pop up, where you can add art and links. To add your link, type in the website address into the URL field.

Tips & Warnings

  • Think about what your viewer is learning or thinking about as your podcast is playing. Perhaps you're talking about a film, and you can link it back to the official site. Perhaps you are just giving a general summary of an event or issue, and you want to give your audience the option of learning more in their spare time. That works too.

  • When you're adding links, you're assuming your audience is listening to the podcast on a computer or an iPod. Here, you have the opportunity to be visual. Add some art to go along with your markers. You can either upload your own picture, or choose one from Media Browser/Photos.
