How to Filet Salmon

Salmon is believed to be the healthiest sea food. Salmon mostly move from salt to fresh water to spawn. Know that salmon recipes are rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. However, cutting salmon is often difficult. Here is how to fillet salmon:

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Towel
  • Knife
  • Salmon
  • Flat cutting board
  1. Step 1

    Place the salmon on a large and flat cutting board.

  2. Step 2

    Make use of a sharp fillet knife. This knife is flexible and useful for removing the fish bones.

  3. Step 3

    Cut the stomach of the fish and clean it thoroughly from inside.

  4. Step 4

    Wash the complete body of the fish with cold water.

  5. Step 5

    Peel off unwanted parts, like the head, tail and fins.

  6. Step 6

    Reverse the knife and cut the bone of the fish.

  7. Step 7

    Slice the meat and the skin. Do the same thing again by reversing the fillet.

  8. Step 8

    Cut the rib cage away from the other parts of the fillet by placing it flat.

  9. Step 9

    Use cold water again to clean the fillet.

  10. Step 10

    Cook and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep a towel handy to wipe your hands or hold the salmon while cutting. The towel will also suck up the fish slime.
