How to Program the T-Mobile Sidekick 3

The T-Mobile Sidekick 3 is a mobile phone that comes with many of the features of other mobile phones. You can program your T-Mobile Sidekick 3 so that is not only easier to use, but is customized to reflect your personality and style.

  1. Step 1

    Create some shortcuts. Press "Menu" then select Settings. On the Settings menu, select Jump Shortcuts. Choose the application that you wish to create a shortcut, and then press the wheel. The Key Mapping dialog box appears.

  2. Step 2

    Customize your ringing tone for incoming calls. Press the "Menu" key from the home screen then select Settings, Ringtones. Choose your incoming ring tone by selecting from the pop-up menu from the Incoming phone call ring option. Press the "Back" key to save the changes.

  3. Step 3

    Customize you incoming messages tone. Press the "Menu" key then select Settings, Sound Profiles. Go to the Pending message alert group box then select a ringtone. Press the "Back" button to save your settings.

  4. Step 4

    Set speed dial shortcuts. Store up to eight dial numbers by clicking "Menu the New Speed Dial." The New Speed Dial Entry dialog box appears then type the name and the number of the contact you wish to add a speed dial shortcut. Select Create to save the changes.

  5. Step 5

    Turn On/Off Privacy Lock. Secure your device from unauthorized access by pressing the "Menu" key from the Jump screen, then select Settings, Key Guard and Security.

  6. Step 6

    Scroll down to the Privacy Lock group box, and then select the Turn On Privacy button. You will be asked to enter a three-digit code.

  7. Step 7

    Re-enter the code to verify. If it is successful, a new combination enabled message will appear, then select OK.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want use the jump shortcut from any screen at any time, just press the "Jump" key plus the shortcut key to instantly open the application.
  • To delete a shortcut key, highlight the application name by using the phone's wheel. Then, press the "Delete" key.
  • Try several different options, to see which best fits your expectations.
  • Be wary of people stealing or using the SIM cards of other people. To ensure the security of your SIM card and device, lock your SIM card by assigning a code or password composed of numbers and letters. However, make sure that you won't forget your password or even you won't be able to use your Sidekick.
