Whether you bring the children for some indoor and outdoor fun or whether you're planning a couple's getaway at Taos, a little planning goes a long way to making sure your Santa Fe summer vacation is smooth. Don’t forget to schedule time to relax in the hotel pool and shop for beautiful, unique souvenirs. Follow these steps to start planning your trip.

  • An Internet connection
  • A telephone
  • A credit card
  1. Step 1

    Consider your budget to decide how much you can afford to spend on your hotel stay, airfare, car rental, meals and tips.

  2. Step 2

    Research and make a list of the activities, attractions and landmarks you’d like to see and do in Santa Fe.

  3. Step 3

    Make a list of amenities you want the most in your accommodations.

  4. Step 4

    Search Hotels.com (see Resources below) for hotels, motels and inns that meet your criteria of price, location and amenities.

  5. Step 5

    Plan to fly into the Santa Fe or Albuquerque, New Mexico Airport.

  6. Step 6

    Ask your travel agent or search your favorite online travel broker for packages including a car rental and a hotel stay that fits your bill.

  • Consider a walking tour, either through a professional tour company. Or, let yourself "get lost” on the streets.
  • Climb to the Cross of the Martyrs near the 600 block of Paseo de Peralta. This monument honors 21 monks slain during the Pueblo Revolt. The hill also offers a beautiful view of the city.
  • Santa Fe is ranked the second-largest art market in the United States. The highest concentration of art exhibits and galleries is up Canyon Road. Consider spending some time people watching and art viewing.
