How to Use the Allied Weapons in Call of Duty 3, Part 1
While "know thine enemy" is very important, it's equally important to know yourself. In Call of Duty 3, this means that you must know how to use your weapons before you can think of doing much of anything. If you don't know how to use your own weapons, how can you expect to win the war? Follow these steps to get ready for battle. Boot Camp is on soldier! Grab your M-1 and hop to it!

1
Use the Garand just about anywhere. This solid, powerful rifle is the mainstay of the American forces for a very good reason: it works! If you're cautious, the Garand makes an excellent sniper weapon. It will lay anyone low in 1 or 2 shots. (It may take a few more in multi-player battles).
-
2
Remember that the M-1 cannot be reloaded mid-clip. The magazine must be finished and ejected before the gun can be reloaded.
-
3
Try switching to a submachine gun like the Thompson, Sten or an MP-40 or 44 when attempting to clear bunkers or fight in close quarters. Battle rifles like the M-1 and Lee-Enfield leave you at a disadvantage when facing multiple opponents in close quarters. Fully automatic weapons are much better for close encounters.
-
4
Make sure you've got some cover between you and the enemy when using bolt-action weapons like the Lee-Enfield and the Springfield. These weapons leave a short time in between shots when the bolt is worked and another round is chambered. If you're out in the open, this leaves you open for a short time between shots that could cost you your life.
-
5
Save the Springfield and the scoped Lee-Enfield! You'll only find these weapons in 2 or 3 missions. Plus, the ammunition is rare. So, be careful with them! The Lee-Enfield is the only one of the dedicated sniper weapons that can be reloaded with regular ammunition. (Picking up another regular Lee-Enfield will refill your scoped Enfield ammo).
-
6
Allow extra time for reloads when using the Springfield and Scoped Lee-Enfield. These weapons require loading bullets one at a time. Make sure there's something solid between you and the enemy before you do this!
-
7
Use the M-1897 Trench Gun for close-quarters fighting. This baby is a World War II-era shotgun! It's monstrously powerful at close range and can kill 2 to 3 soldiers in a single shot if you're close enough. Don't bother trying to use it at a distance. Its accuracy and power drop significantly. You wont find this gun too often, so if you see it, grab it and blast away!
