How to Spend the Fourth of July in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is known the world over as the Cradle of Liberty. Because it's the place where the Declaration of Independence was signed, Pennsylvania has special reason to celebrate the Fourth of July. Follow these steps to find out how you can celebrate in the state where liberty was born.

• Reservations for camping or lodging if attending a celebration out of town
• Lawn chairs and blankets for seating at fireworks displays

Instructions

Philadelphia 4th of July

1. Attend the presentation of the Liberty Medal at Independence Hall.

2. Party all day at the Sunoco Welcome America! Festival with over 50 events and activities throughout the day.

3. Attend or march in the Philadelphia Fourth of July Parade.

4. Watch the fireworks from one of several Philadelphia venues.

Outside Philadelphia

1. Run in the Central Pennsylvania 5k family fun race.

2. Join in the fun at the "Central Pennsylvania 4th Fest," which includes a Great American Cherry Pie Eating contest. Check out the Web site for more information (see Resources below).

3. See the All Volunteer Pyrotechnics Show at the "4th Fest."

4. Attend the Three Rivers Regatta in Pittsburgh.

5. Join in the birthday celebration at Point State Park in Pittsburgh.

6. Celebrate at the four day long American Music Fest in Harrisburg.
