Libertyfest in Oklahoma was named as one of the ten best places in the country to be on the Fourth of July by CNN and by "USA Today." It’s just one way that Oklahoma celebrates Independence Day. Follow these steps to have a wonderful Fourth of July in Oklahoma.

Things You'll Need:

  • Reservations for camping or lodging if attending a celebration out of town
  • Fireworks (if setting off your own display)
  • Lawn chairs and blankets for seating at fireworks displays

    Attend the Libertyfest in Edmond, Oklahoma

  1. Step 1

    Make reservations for hotel or camping in advance for the week-long festival.

  2. Step 2

    Attend the opening concert in the park and have watermelon and ice cream after the show.

  3. Step 3

    Be part of the Car Show. Display your own vintage car or just enjoy the show.

  4. Step 4

    Compete in (or just watch) the Miss Libertyfest Scholarship pageant on June 30.

  5. Step 5

    Fly a kite in the Kite Fest at Mitch Park.

  6. Step 6

    Attend the Rodeo held June 30 and July 1.

  7. Step 7

    Take part in a scavenger hunt on wheels in the Liberty Road Rally.

  8. Step 8

    "Chalk it Up" as a family or group at the Chalk Drawing contest. The event features good old fashioned family fun activities like a dunk tank, chalk drawing contest, face painting and clowns.

    Be part of the biggest Fourth of July Parade in Oklahoma. Decorate wagons, bikes, floats or even your pet to win a prize in the Libertyfest Fourth of July Parade. Or, just be one of 50,000 spectators.

    Attend Parkfest and the fireworks to end off the festival Fourth of July with a big bang.
